Stage 2- Similar films and Production Companies

 Camila Lopezcaal 1/23/21

While in stage 2 my next step would be to obviously keep digging into my project. Quite frankly there are some films that relate to mine genre wise, and with audience. Genre wise, fiction and adventure are the most related with my film concept. The genre for my opening sequence has changed over time as I fell these genres fit more with it rather than horror. I also feel like I would be better with these genres since I have more knowledge about them. Since this is a fiction sequence the genre has to be along the lines with it. The audience for these types of films mostly range from children to teens mostly and at times adults. According to www.hgexperts.com, writer states that fiction films are usually financed by government grants and subsidies to be able to cover the total cost of the film. So, this means that they usually borrow or receive money from the government to do these fiction films. This site also states that it’s the producer's job to be responsible for the funding of a film and they should also pay for any other costs that go over the amount. Some obvious production companies that relate to my film would be like DisneyNetflixHuluor Marvel. These films relate to mine because they have a wide range of film productions that relate to fiction and animated films. (My sequence is most likely to be animated.) An idea choice for my opening sequence would be most likely Disney since they have the most fiction animated films that have been made. Fiction films have been out since the 1900s which also inspires me to make one since they are very popular even now in days. Usually, targeting teenagers and children.

Stage 2- Aim and Script

 Camila Lopezcaal 1/23

I am now in stage 2 of my project. It is starting to get a little tougher in my opinion. This week I am going to be going a little more into detail with my project. Starting with the script of my film, I have some knowledge about scripts but not a lot. I am used to watching animes and reading the script of them since most of them are in Japanese. I did a little more research on script before I was able to start having an idea of what I wanted for mine. For my script I was just thinking about a way I can obviously get people interested in my story. To sum it up, it is basically going to be the title opening which is “lonely yellow” and there is going to be not many words since it is just a title sequence. There is going to be mostly music in the background along with animations that would represent the actual film not only the title sequence. The director/producer would be a part of the script along with the opening credits and that sums it up. Since I am an individual for my project only my name would most likely be imbedded in the script.

Here is an example of a title sequence I like since I am aiming for
an animated one except with color. This will be included in script.

The overall goal for my opening sequence is to have a sequence about a lonely boy and his horrible life even though he is always happy in front of others and strives to be accepted by others since his parent's death is because of him, saving him from a monster. This will achieve a opening sequence for my project and will most likely fall into the stereotype for teenagers and those who like animated films.

Film genre

When I watch movies, I usually am more into horror, fantasy, and comedy. Coming up with the decision to pick one for my opening sequence was tough. In conclusion I ended up choosing a horror genre. Not many people are into horror but usually if someone does go to watch one it means that it is a good one. Besides the trailer of a film catching someone's attention to watch a movie, the opening sequence or in other words "title sequence" also catches ones attention. When it comes to horror films typically everything is usually "evil." The characters in these films usually are scary looking or have murderous intent. *deleterious* They are filled with darkness and evil. As I was researching I came up with some examples...

Uploaded Image  In this picture the women has her hair over her face and is wearing black clothes which is what usually is presented in horror films.

The lighting in films that I usually see are lowkey lighting. The lighting is usually mild or light to make it more scary. What is also typically used is natural lighting such as daylight or night time. With this lighting the genre is also most likely to be labeled as a horror film. Today I got the chance to watch a horror film named "Anabelle" which is well known also for its conventions, and helped me figure out what it used and what genre I wanted to do. The coloring in these films is always dark colors whether red or black. The clothing or even the background of the title sequences along with the fonts used. In horror films a font that is used is the "Seric Gothic Heavy", and what is included is usually the name of the films, producer(s), or the main characters. This is all of my input I was able to get for my first blog of this week and I am learning more about my project everyday.

Blog entrée 2                                        Camila Lopezcaal                      Pd:2         Opening Credits

Opening credits are typically always in films. Alongside opening credits being used to give credit to the people involved in making the film like the producer, they are usually to show the audience the most significant people in the production. These credits are shown in the beginning of films and people usually get them confused with the closing credits, but the difference is that the ending credits show all the cast or people involved even if they were rarely involved.

In this project my short commercial will obviously have opening credits involved since it is a necessity for it. On the other hand, when it comes to a title sequence it is also a way of presenting the most important members that take part of a film except it is presented by using sound or visuals. Opening credits usually use text to present their crew. To create a title sequence, some techniques that are embedded are music, graphics and action, all being live, or in other words (in motion). In my project I will definitely be using music as a title sequence since it is what people enjoy the most now in days. While using music I will also use graphics and action since many people also are into graphics. This obviously depends on the liking of my group members so this may not be for sure. During these types of opening ways, the main actors are embedded like the protagonist and antagonist. The producer and the camera man are also some people who are in it.

Here are some examples...

In this spider man title sequence the company and some of the main people are represented by using graphic comics and music, while also being live.

Options for project

 Blog 1                                               pd;2            1/7/21

My name is Camila, and this is my first blog entrée. Throughout this week I have learned about a brief summary of this project that covers many media studies technical elements and will involve the process of filming. I will be working with a group of peers although I am not sure with who precisely yet. I am beyond excited for this project even though this project is for sure to take a lot of time and effort.

This project focuses on all the codes and conventions, angles, shots, representation, and etcmade during the process of a film production. This week I began to learn the elements that are needed in my project. Alongside my blog entries having at least 300 words, I also learned that it must also be like an introduction to yourself. This is great for the people who like to be creative in their writing and is also a wonderful way to be able to express yourself. I as well learned how to create a blog and how to also post all my blog entries in the future. While creating my first blog entrée I was also able to look at other people's blogs and I was astonished by how creative most of them were. They really got into detail with the research process and even their first blog entrée was great. I see that most of them most likely put a lot of time into each of their entries and arduous work which is something I must keep up with. I am so grateful to be able to take part in this project because I am really excited for the filming part. I believe I will be able to successfully get through this project because of the past work that had been assigned by my teacher. This is the end for my first blog entrée and am happy to make even more on my blog page.
